 Vincent Smith School students, staff and parents took to the streets of the Port Washington community for the school’s 8th Annual Walk-a-thon. The group made its way down Port Washington Boulevard to Main Street where they headed to Blumenfeld Family Park to complete the first half of the three-mile walk. The Walk-a-thon provides the school with a fundraising opportunity to maintain and enhance programs at VSS.
VOnce at the park, students and staff welcomed parents, Town and County officials, and event sponsors Astoria Federal Savings of Greenvale, Arena Sports and Graphics of Port Washington, Whole Foods Market at Manhasset, Sullivan’s Quay of Port Washington and Ben’s Kosher Deli of Woodbury, which set up a grill and provided delicious hot dogs for all participants. During a presentation ceremony, Head of School Arlene Wishnew presented VSS parent and former PTA Co-President Patricia Loester with an award for her tireless efforts and support of all students and the school. The school also received proclamations from the offices of Legislator Wayne Wink.
 The event was a huge success. Students and staff raised money for a good cause, ate a tasty lunch, and played friendly games of football and soccer before completing the three-mile trek back to school.
The Board of Education, administrators and students at Vincent Smith School would like to thank its corporate and individual sponsors for their support. Gifts are not just an extremely generous donation to the school, they are an investment in the lives of VSS students.
