Admissions

Admissions Process

The admissions committee accepts new students throughout the calendar year.

Interested families must send their child's IEP and neuropsychology report to Admissions@vincentsmithschool.org to schedule a visit.

We are located at 322 Port Washington Boulevard in Port Washington, NY, just 5 miles from the Queens/Nassau border.

Admissions Process

Vincent Smith School considers for admission students who show promise of academic success and/or in need of related services such as reading, speech, or OT.

Students with developmental, behavioral, or disciplinary problems will not be considered, as we do not support those serices.

Three-Step Screening Process

After your initial campus visit, your child will meet informally with the Head of School and the Dean of Students. Next, your child will be invited to meet with select teachers for a placement evaluation. In some cases, your child might be asked to attend classes for a half or full day, or multiple days as a VSS student to assess their appropriate grouping.

The admissions committee will ask you to provide:

  • Individual Education Plan (IEP) or IESP
  • Psychological and educational testing (neuropsych or psych. ed. report)
  • Other relevant evaluations that might assist us in the admissions process

    Policy of Non-discrimination
