Winning the Election

In what turned out to be the closest election in Vincent Smith School history, the student government was elected with as few as five votes separating candidates in each of the four offices. Vincent Smith is a private independent day school that has a rich history dating back to 1924. The first elections recorded at the school were in 1937. This year’s candidates campaigned for several weeks with the help of fellow student volunteers. President Michael Charyn, Vice President Richard Haverlin, Treasurer Lydia Dawson and Secretary Blair Laventhal took office the day before their counterparts were put through the grind of local, county and state level elections.
