Awards and Honors

Throughout the school year, students and friends of Vincent Smith School receive recognition in the following categories:

1) Honor Roll.

Middle school and high school students may earn honor roll status on one of three academic levels. Honor Roll inductees will be announced at a special assembly each term and their achievement will be noted here.

2) Annual Awards.

A. Commencement Awards. Each term outstanding students are nominated for special recognition, receiving one of a series of endowed awards. These awards are presented at Senior Commencement and include a gift from the Board of Trustees. In addition, the name of each recipient is inscribed on a plaque that is on display in the High School Commons.

The following individuals are the recipients of the 2007 Awards.

B. Awards Ceremonies. In addition to the above named awards which are presented at our three graduation ceremonies in June, students are honored throughout the school year for their achievements. The Sports Awards Dinner honors our athletes and cheerleaders. The Art Show judges the works of participating students in all grades. Prizes are awarded.

C. Special Recognition. Throughout the year, the PTA and other groups make presentations based on student achievement, interest, and skill. From time to time, classroom teachers may make presentations.

D. Student Council. Each year, the Student Council sets aside a portion of its fundraising revenues to provide prizes that recognize the creativity of our students as they show off their school spirit. Hat Day is an example of a fun activity for students and staff.
