Mr. Joseph V. Muscarella Appointed to the Vincent Smith School Board of Trustees

Mr. Joseph V. Muscarella, Ph.D., PE, F. ASCE, of Garden City has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Vincent Smith School in Port Washington. Mr. Muscarella has vast experience serving on school boards in various capacities.  "I'm very excited to serve on the Vincent Smith School Board. Attending Vincent Smith has been such a wonderful experience for my son. He's actually looks forward to September when he can get back to VSS.  I am proud to support a school whose mission is dedicated to providing a small, nurturing and supportive setting for the reluctant learner and learning disabled students.  Vincent Smith School is committed to the belief that It is okay to learn differently.”

Mr. Muscarella serves as the Vice President for Administration and Planning for Nassau Community College. Before joining NCC, Mr. Muscarella was the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he was responsible for facilities, construction, safety, and security. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers as a Colonel in 2004 following a 26 year career. A graduate of West Point, Mr. Muscarella holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Virginia. He has taught engineering courses at the United States Military Academy, Columbia University, and Nassau Community College.
